FAQ

Which languages do you translate?

We translate from and into the following languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Russian, Dutch and Ukrainian.

What types of translations do you handle?

We handle certified, legal, technical, scientific and literary translations. That is, any type of translation.

What is a certified translation?

A certified translation is that which carries the translator’s signature and seal. Therefore, if you must follow a procedure at an official agency, you will be required to submit a certified translation, that is, one which is legally valid.

Can I have a certified translation done BEFORE all required stamps are included in the document to be translated?

No. A certified translation is always the last step in the procedure. If an agency/authority has requested that your document should bear an apostille and/or stamp by some specific entity, first you will have to meet that requirement and only then may you request for a certified translation. Otherwise, you will have to have 2 certified translations done, so you will have to pay twice.

What does legalization at the Colegio de Traductores Públicos involve?

Official agencies typically require that a certified translation of a document be also legalized by the Colegio de Traductores Públicos (Association of Sworn Translators). What the Association of Sworn Translators does is certify that the professional involved in the translation job is actually a member of this entity. The legalization cost is fixed by the Association of Sworn Translators and is independent from the translation cost.

How can I get a translation job estimate?

If the translation required is not certified, you should simply send us an e-mail attaching a copy of the document to be translated.
If the translation should be certified and you do not have the document in electronic format, you may send us a scanned copy or else clearly specify the type of document and the number of pages.

How long will a reply to a request for an estimate take?

We guarantee that you will receive your estimate within 24 hours at most.

Which format should materials have so that they can be translated?

Most often, the content to be translated is on paper or in electronic-file format. However, you may need to have a video or audio file translated. Even in this case, the content can also be translated without problems.
The only difference is that apart from the translation cost there will be an additional fee for audio and/or video processing.

What determines the cost of a document to be translated?

The price of a translation is based on the following criteria: translation language, document length, complexity of the text to be translated, delivery deadline.

How is quality of the translation job ensured?

Our staff is made up of professionals who are members of the Colegio de Traductores Públicos (Association of Sworn Translators) and of translators specialized in technical, scientific and literary translation. This means that each translation job is handled by an expert rather than by a person who can merely speak a foreign language.

Why is ElyCan Translations the best choice to have all kinds of documents translated?

Because we offer quality, reasonable prices and seriousness. For us, translating is more than a job —it is a challenge we love and to which we devote ourselves with absolute professionalism.
